Privacy Policy

Updated:

This policy explains what Thenicknames collects when you use the nickname generator. In short, the tool builds results from the name you type, keeps simple counts of copied and favorite results, and does not ask you to create an account or hand over personal details.

What the generator keeps

The name you type is sent to the site’s server only to build that set of results. It is not saved to the site’s database and is not attached to your identity. If you use the page without JavaScript, the form sends the name in the page address, so ordinary web server logs may briefly record it as part of the request.

When you press Copy or the heart on a result, the site records the nickname text, the type of action and the time. To stop repeated clicks inflating the numbers, it also keeps a short-lived marker built from a one-way hash of your IP address. The marker lasts one day for copies and up to thirty days for hearts, and it cannot be turned back into your IP address. These counts power the “Most copied this week” list, which only appears when there are enough real copies to show.

The site also keeps a temporary request counter per hashed IP address, lasting about a minute, to limit automated abuse.

Cookies and analytics

The site itself does not set cookies and does not run advertising or third-party analytics scripts. Your hosting and content delivery providers may process standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and keep it secure. If you send a message through the contact form, your email address and message are emailed to the site team and are used only to reply.

If analytics or advertising are added later, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.

Questions about your data

Because the site stores no account or name data, there is usually nothing to look up or delete. If you are a California resident or live elsewhere with similar rights and would like to ask what is held about you, or to request removal of a message you sent, write to us through the contact page. You can also read about the site for how results are generated.
